Once
again, Pakistan is at it. Being very well aware of its misdeeds, she has now
started crying hoarse and hurling utterly false accusations of ‘ceasefire
violations’ against a restraining India. Obviously, nobody is inclined to
believe Pakistan, which has been habitual about telling lies.
The
latest incident of Pakistan’s lie standing exposed is that of ‘Indian’ drone
shot down near the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber area of Pakistan-occupied
Kashmir (PoK). Inter Services Public Relations of Pakistan raked up the
controversy by issuing a statement that ‘Indian’ drone was brought down as it
was doing aerial photography. And, Pakistan’s blatant lie was nailed by none
other than her friend China. The People’s Daily run by the ruling Communist
Party of China disclosed that the drone shot down by Pakistan was of Chinese
make.
Deeply
embarrassed by this disclosure by China, and sulking over her lie getting
exposed internationally, Pakistan resorted to another lie. Despite herself
shielding the terrorists and consistently engaging into a series of ceasefire
violations, Pakistan has now accused India of ceasefire violations. The
accusation itself has invited ridicule and contempt for Pakistan at
international level. It is a matter of record that Pakistan has been violating
the 2003 ceasefire agreement between India and herself. As per the records,
Pakistan violated ceasefire thrice in 2006. This was followed by 21 violations
in 2007, 77 in 2008, 28 in 2009, 44 in 2010, 62 in 2011, a high 114 in 2012,
higher 347 in 2013, and the highest 562 in the year 2014. In 2015, so far, Pakistan
has violated ceasefire umpteen times in the past couple of months.
Year
after year, Pakistan has been proving herself to be a rogue state and a liar.
As is known commonly in military circles, the ceasefire violations of small
arms fire by Pakistan are aimed at facilitating infiltration by State-sponsored
terrorists across the LoC into India. Having realised on a number of occasions
since 1947 that she cannot win a military conflict with a superiorly-equipped India,
Pakistan has been indulging in such acts to create disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir
and aiding separatists and terrorists in India, towards realising her goal of ‘unfinished
agenda of partition’. In the recent times, it came to fore that Pakistan had
been aiding terrorists to infiltrate into India through secret tunnel dug
across the LoC. Further, in several cases, Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BATs)
and snipers attacked civilian areas and forward posts of India. There has been
increase in shelling and firing.
The
steady rise in number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan is part of a design to
create disturbances along the border for India. There is political compulsion
for Pakistani ruling class, to raise anti-India slogans and extend support to
terrorists. If Pakistani Prime Minister Mr Nawaz Sharif talks of normalising relations
with India, the Pakistani Army and Inter-Services Intelligence both work
overtime to scuttle that. Further, radical elements in Pakistani Government do
not want any progress or image make-over at international level. They just want
every Pakistani Government to feed the masses with ‘hate India’ campaign.
Hence,
in such a situation, it would be a wiser option for India to act tough on
Pakistani Army and Inter-Services Intelligence. As Brig Gurmeet Kanwal,
Visiting Fellow of Vivekananda International Foundation, had pointed out in his
2013 article, “Every time acts of similar provocation are repeated in
future, the quantum of punitive retaliation must be correspondingly enhanced.
The dose should be repeated as often as necessary even while peace talks are
underway. Quite soon, when it bleeds and hurts, the Pakistan Army will get the
message that wanton acts of violence do not pay.”
Of course, India has been adopting this
strategy more recently and this has rattled the Pakistani military
establishment. The latest incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan indicate
frustration of the Pakistani military establishment and radical elements. Now
onwards, it would be a game of nerves as Pakistan will continue with her lie-telling
and ranting to make every issue international, while leaving no opportunity to
provoke India. Indian side needs to be more alert at international level and expose
Pakistan’s lies as well as take every opportunity to discredit Pakistan. Though
nobody believes in a liar’s rants, the forces not approving of India’s growth
story may use Pakistan as a pawn to further their own geo-political and geo-economic
interests. India needs to take necessary actions keeping this in mind.
