NMC general body clears hike in fire service charges
Staff Reporter The general body of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), in its meeting held on Saturday, cleared hike in fire service charges. Further, it also cleared hike in monthly allowance to meritorious officials/employees of Fire and Emergency Services Department. Fire and Emergency Services Department has been collecting fire service charges from builders, developers, and house-owners for three-and-a-half years allegedly without any permission of the State Government. Pulled up by the State and after a petition before the High Court, Fire and Emergency Services Department had submitted a proposal to NMC general body for regualrisation of the same with retrospective effect. As per the proposal before the general body, the department had sought recovery of revised charges from November 30, 2011.
