Proposal to install CCTV cameras in Nagpur goes to IT Department

The proposal regarding installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Nagpur city has been submitted to Information Technology Department of State Government. This was informed by officials in a meeting on law and order in Nagpur district, held at Mantralaya on Wednesday. 
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, had called the meeting in which various other issues pertaining to modernisation of police force in Nagpur city and district, and filling up of vacancies, new police stations etc were discussed. The officials present in the meeting informed the minister that Home Department had granted approval to make available ‘bag scanner’ at Nagpur, for better vigilance. A proposal regarding installation of General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) system, a widely-used mobile data service, on vehicles with City Police was discussed. 
Bawankule directed Nagpur (Rural) Police to prepare a proposal on setting up new police stations at Nimkheda and Mahadula in Mouda tehsils, and Mahalgaon in Bhiwapur tehsil. The officials concerned were asked to submit proposal for setting up new police station in MIHAN area, to Commissioner of Police (City) and Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural). Hingna and Kamptee police stations should be annexed to City Police Commissionerate and proposals should be prepared in this regard, the minister said. Police posts should be set up at Koradi Temple before Navratra, he asked the senior police officers. The officials informed him that almost 80 per cent of the construction work of Koradi Police Station building was completed and it would be ready for inauguration within a month. 
When Bawankule asked about new police station in Besa-Beltarodi area, officials informed him that Finance Department had turned down the proposal citing financial condition and administrative reasons. He asked the officials to submit proposal again and assured to follow up the matter with Finance Department and Chief Minister. At Nagpur (Rural) Police Headquarters, a proposal of Rs 27.65 crore for construction of 114 service quarters has been submitted by Director General of Police, and a note is likely to be moved before the State Cabinet for availing of loan from HUDCO for this and similar projects across the State. 
The Guardian Minister asked the Commissioner of Police to prepare a proposal regarding handing over of Kotwali Police Station quarters land in Mahal to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for late Prabhakarrao Datke Memorial Hospital. At Mohpa and Gondkhairi in Kalmeshwar tehsil, police posts should be started as Finance Department has turned down the proposal of setting up new police stations there. As far as Lakadganj Police Station housing project was concerned, he said that Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) should not seek funds from the Government, and also assured to talk to Chief Minister. 
Already, Bajaj Nagar police station in Nagpur city has got administrative approval and 2,221.41 sq mtr land has been acquired from NIT in Lendhra Park area, and proposal for construction of building has been put up wiith Police Housing Corporation. The proposal regarding Shanti Nagar police station is under consideration. For the purpose, NIT has been asked to make available land. For construction of the building of Pratap Nagar police station, Rs 8.42 lakh has been deposited with NIT and proposal for remaining amount of Rs 73,47,340 has been submitted to Director General of Police for approval. The vacant posts of officers in Nagpur City Police will be filled up within one-and-a-half month.
