Bawankule, Energy Minister and Guardian Minister of district, took
stock of various developmental works in the district and requirement of
zudpi jungle land ffor the same. He assured to strive for getting zudpi
jungle land.
Bawankule chaired a meeting of District-level Forest
Rights Committee at Abasaheb Khedkar Hall in Zilla Parishad (ZP)
premises here on Friday. In the meeting, it was informed that Nagpur
district had total forest area of 2,39,799 hectares including 68,566
hectares of reserved forest, 63,273 hectares of protected forest, 14,131
hectares of zudpi jungle land with Forest Department, 62,573 hectares
of wildlife sanctuary, and 31,147 hectares with Forest Development
Corporation of Maharashtra.
So far, a total of 495 claims of
individual forest rights and 125 claims of community forest rights have
been approved by district-level committee. The individual claims involve
forest land of 476.26 hectares, while community claims involve 262.82
hectares of land. The highest number of claims approved by
district-level committee are in Hingna (individual rights) and Saoner
(community rights) tehsils.
After taking stock of the situation,
Bawankule told the officers of Revenue and Forest Departments that
plantation would be taken up on wasteland. However, he said, zudpi
jungle land that was not in possession of Forest Department and managed
by Gram Panchayats should be made available for developmental works. “I
shall take up the issue with the Government,” he said. He asked the
officials concerned to compile data about zudpi jungle land not in
possession of Forest Department, and submit a report by January 31.
Forest Department officers and Tehsildars concerned should make
available the data to Gram Panchayats, he added.
Guardian Minister
also directed the officials of Forest Department to clear the proposals
for utilisation of forest land up to 1 hectare for developmental
activities under the provisions of Forest Rights Act, 2006. These
developmental activities include construction of community halls,
schools, hospitals, water tanks, roads, electricity lines etc.

Sawarkar, ZP President; Shivajirao Jondhale, Chief Executive Officer of
ZP; J B Sangitrao, Deputy Collector (Revenue); Rajan Meshram, Assistant
Conservator of Forests; Ruprao Shingne, ZP member, were present
prominently.
