Bawankule is Guardian Minister of Nagpur distt


* Chief Minister Devendra Fadvavis gives nine ministers responsibility as Guardian Ministers of 11 districts in Vidarbha region
* These include seven BJP ministers, and two belonging to Shiv Sena

Keeping his word again, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appointed Guardian Ministers of 36 districts in Maharashtra within a couple of days of prorogation of winter session of State Legislature. As per the list released on Friday, Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been appointed as Guardian Minister of Nagpur district.
Bawankule represents Kamptee constituency in Nagpur district, and has got elected as MLA for the third consecutive term. Recently, he was inducted into the Fadnavis Cabinet as Energy Minister considering his expertise in the matters related to energy sector. During his tenure as MLA, he raised several issues relating to generation and other aspects of power sector.
Further, Bawankule has a considerable influence in Nagpur rural, which comprises six constituencies of Assembly. He has been very influential in the politics of Zilla Parishad. Bawankule has been actively following up the issues concerning the development in the area in the vicinity of Nagpur city, and the city itself. Considering his grasp of the district’s development and issues involved, Fadnavis has appointed him as Guardian Minister of Nagpur district that has Second Capital of Maharashtra.
From the list, it is clear that while appointing Guardian Ministers, Fadnavis has considered level of familiarisation of a minister with the district. As the Council of Ministers presently has 30 members, and there are 36 districts in the State, Chief Minister has given responsibility of two districts to some senior ministers. As far as Vidarbha region is concerned, nine ministers have been given the responsibility as Guardian Ministers of 11 districts.
Eknath Khadse, Revenue Minister and the seniormost in the Cabinet, has been given responsibility of two districts namely his home-district of Jalgaon, and Buldhana in Vidarbha region. Sudhir Mungantiwar, Finance and Forest Minister, has been appointed as In-charge Minister for Wardha and Chandrapur districts. Mungantiwar has got elected from Ballarpur constituency in Chandrapur district. Dr Ranjit Patil, Minister of State for Home and Urban Development, is the Guardian Minister of Akola and Washim districts. Dr Ranjit Patil got elected as MLC from Akola constituency of Legislative Council.
Barring Bhandara and Yavatmal, all the other districts in Vidarbha have got BJP ministers. Bhandara and Yavatmal are the only two districts in the region to have got Shiv Sena leaders as Guardian Ministers. Dr Deepak Sawant, Public Health Minister, has been appointed as Guardian Minister of Bhandara district; while Sanjay Rathod, Minister of State for Revenue, has been given charge of Yavatmal district.
Rajkumar Badole, MLA from Arjuni Morgaon, is Guardian Minister of home-district Gondia. Badole is Social Justice Minister in Fadnavis Government. Pravin Pote Patil, MLC from Amravati, is Minister of State for Industries and Mining. He has been made In-charge Minister of his home-district Amravati. Raje Ambarish Atram, MLA from Aheri, has been named as Guardian Minister of home-district Gadchiroli.
