As announced in the Union Budget 2015-16, the Central Government will be launching two insurance schemes and a pension scheme to expand the net of social security for all, on May 9. On the same day, the schemes will be launched ceremoniously at Nagpur in a function to be held at 5 pm at Deshpande Hall here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the schemes nationally in a function to be held at Kolkata, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will launch these in a function at Mumbai. The schemes will be launched in Nagpur Division, in a function to be held in Nagpur city. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, will grace the launching ceremony in the city on Saturday, said Anoop Kumar, Divisional Commissioner.
Addressing a press conference at Divisional Commissionerate here on Thursday, Anoop Kumar said that these schemes include Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). “All nationalised banks will be implementing the schemes. As far as Nagpur Division is concerned, Bank of India is the lead bank for the schemes,” Anoop Kumar said. In the event to be organised jointly by Bank of India and district administration, the beneficiaries of these schemes also will remain present.
Abhishek Krishna, District Collector; C G Popere, Zonal Manager of Bank of India; S R Padhi, Deputy Zonal Manager of the bank; Appasaheb Dhulaj, Deputy Commissioner (General), and other officials also were present in the press conference.
Informing about the schemes, Popere and Padhi said that having a bank account and that too linked with Aadhaar Card were the pre-requisites for availing the schemes. The period of insurance will be from June 1 to May 31. They made a detailed presentation on each of the three schemes.
Asked about the Aadhaar Cards issued, Anoop Kumar told the reporters that 86 per cent of the total 1.17 crore population in Nagpur Division had got the cards. “As far as seeding or linking with bank accounts is concerned, it is in progress,” he added.

PMSBY It offers a renewable one year ‘accidental death-cum-disability’ cover of Rs 2 lakh. In case of ‘partial  permanent  disability’ due to accident, the beneficiary will get Rs 1 lakh. In case of death, the nominees will get Rs 2 lakh. All savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-70 years may avail of the insurance scheme for a premium of only Rs 12 per annum per subscriber. The premium payment is only through auto-debit. The bank will directly auto-debit the premium from a subscriber’s account. Also, the subscriber has to opt for the scheme every year.

PMJJBY
It offers a renewable one year life cover of Rs 2 lakh to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-50 years, covering death due to any reason, for a premium of Rs 330 per annum per subscriber. People joining the scheme before completing 50 years of age may continue to get life cover up to the age of 55 years, subject to payment of premium. The premium will be auto-debited in single instalment directly from the subscriber’s account. A subscriber has to opt for the scheme every year. But, if he/she chooses to avail of a long-term option of continuing the scheme, premium will be auto-debited from his/her account every year.

APY
This scheme focusses especially on the unorganised sector, and provides a fixed minimum pension of Rs 1000, Rs 2000, Rs 3000, Rs 4000, or Rs 5000 per month starting at the age of 60 years. However, the amount of pension depends upon the premium to be paid in the multiples of Rs 42 per month, depending upon the age of the subscribers. Any eligible person in the age-group of 18-40 years may subscribe to the scheme. In case of those having ‘non-taxable’ income and those in unorganised sector, the Central Government will contribute 50 per cent of the premium or Rs 1000 per annum, whichever is lower, for a period of five years. But, this offer is open for those who subscribe to the scheme before December 31, 2015.
