IN a major decision, Maharashtra Government has decided to conduct supplementary examination of unsuccessful students of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in July and announce the result in August. This will give these students an opportunity to save their academic year.
So far, supplementary examination of unsuccessful SSC students was conducted in winter. The results of this examination used to be declared in December and students who passed could take admission to junior college only in the next year. As a result, they lost one full academic year.
Considering this, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) will conduct supplementary examination of SSC students -- who could not clear the regular examination held in March this year -- in the second week of July. The result of this examination will be declared around August 20. The students clearing supplementary examination will be eligible to get admissions for academic session from September 1.
Vinod Tawde, Education Minister, made this announcement on Thursday. The move will provide an opportunity to 1,34,346 students who could not clear SSC regular examination conducted in March 2015. The move may benefit 46,587 unsuccessful students from Vidarbha region including 23,583 students from Nagpur Divisional Board, and 23,004 from Amravati Divisional Board.
For the supplementary examination to be conducted in second week of July, the forms are to be accepted from June 15. The practicals and oral examination will be conducted around July 15. This will be followed by written examination.
From the next year, supplementary examination for unsuccessful SSC students will be held as per new schedule. The students who fail to clear supplementary examination too, will be provideed with the facility of career counselling, and will be given admissions to skill development courses in accordance with marks scored by them. From the year 2016, students clearing regular examination of SSC will get admissions to Class XI as per the regular procedure. And, those failing to clear the regular (summer) examination, will get certificates mentioning their eligibility for skill development.
